Terry has counseled more than 1,000 couples in her lengthy career. Her own marriage spans more than four decades. She completely understands the challenges, joys and frustrations of marriage.

Her advice and counsel comes from years of professional training and experience, and also from the heart. Terry relates personally to every couple she meets. Her therapy approach is all about healing.

A bilingual therapist, Terry specializes in couples counseling, especially post-affair therapy. Adultery leaves deep wounds. Mistrust and judgment abound. Healing from its devastation and trauma, and redeveloping trust, is a steep task. The underlying problem might be a breach in the relationship, perhaps one that neither person realized. Terry helps couples identify the true challenges in their marriages, take ownership of their roles, and move toward a resolution.

Terry works with many other aspects of couples therapy: frequent arguments or communication problems, recovery from alcohol or drug abuse, grief over loss of a child, stress from illness, or even helping save marriages on the brink of divorce. She works with partners to understand and overcome unhealthy relationship patterns, and regain their emotional connection.

For couples headed for breakup, Terry provides separation and divorce therapy to manage the accompanying pain, sadness and anger. This counseling is especially helpful when children are involved. She works with the partners both separately and together. Terry facilitates a multi-week support group, Rebuilding, Repairing, and Restoring Your Life during Separation and Divorce, to guide individuals through this trying, traumatic time.

Terry also specializes in treating people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many of her clients seek help following sexual abuse, domestic violence, witnessing a death or serious injury, or after the sudden death of a family member.

Professional training and advancement is a high priority for Terry. She is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS). She employs IFS to help clients identify and release their inner parts – perspective, confidence, compassion and acceptance – that lead to real communication and healing.

Terry achieved a Family Mediation Certificate in 2010, and conducts divorce and family mediation through the Milwaukee County court system.

Terry is certified as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Bachelors in Education from UWM.

Terry has two adult children and two grandchildren. She tremendously values time spent with her family, enjoys dance workouts, and is a huge movie buff. She knows that life rarely resembles the movies, but does everything she can to help her clients reach happy endings.
