Lucia Micheli is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor. She obtained her master’s degree in social work from UWM in 1998 and worked for several years at Meta House, a nationally renowned drug and alcohol treatment center for women.

In private practice since 2001, Lucia specializes in treating traumatized individuals with an emphasis on education, support and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. As a trauma survivor, she brings a unique awareness and perspective to her work. Her clients appreciate this empathy, as well as Lucia’s strengths in rapport-building, problem solving, creativity and positive regard.

In addition to her work in trauma recovery and substance misuse, Lucia works with clients affected by loved ones’ substance misuse, and those who are experiencing grief, depression and/or anxiety. She is particularly sensitive to issues faced by police officers, firefighters and their families. Lucia is a designated crisis responder for the Milwaukee Fire department and provides training for the Milwaukee Police Department’s Police Officer Support Team (P.O.S.T.). She has been a featured presenter to Shielded Hearts, a support group established by spouses of police officers.

An avid Packer fan, Lucia enjoys riding on motorcycles and working out. She promotes physical fitness as one of the cornerstones to emotional well-being. A skilled group therapist, Lucia has facilitated groups on Trauma Recovery, Relapse Prevention, Womens’ Support, Adult Children of Alcoholics, Relationships, Weight Loss and Support for Parents of Kids with Special Needs.
